Casio G-Shock have announced an exclusive new collaboration with the planets ‘Most Successful Virtual Act’, Gorillaz. The G-Shock Gorillaz collaboration will see a brand new limited edition collection of watches, designed specifically with the band members in mind, 2D, Noodle, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs.
This new G-Shock Gorillaz partnership brings together two world class acts, who have been innovating and pushing boundaries for years, renowned entities that offer a classic style refined again with a twist when they come together.
This announcement comes just days after the interview with Casio G-Shock creator Kikuo Ibe where he surprisingly said that he wanted to sell a G-Shock watch to an alien in a outer-space Casio outlet! You can read all about that here.
This is now being made in to reality, in a round about way, via the collaboration with Gorillaz. The theme to the collaboration, seems to be Kikuo Ibe sending the Gorillaz to space with a case of G-Shock watches (see video above)
Casio G-SHOCK Gorillaz Collection
The collection is set to be released in winter of this year, and is looking to be one of the hottest collaborations done by Casio. The art style and creative minds of Gorillaz is perfect for this application, the watch design is expected to wow, with the unique collaboration keeping many collectors on the edge of their seats. Casio G-Shock are currently releasing video teasers in episodes on social media and YouTube, as seen at the top, for part 1.
