Watches To Invest In
For those looking at watches to invest in that are going to hold their value, or even potentially rise in value, we have put together a list of watches that we believe, and many experts believe, will do this for you. Throughout this list we take a look at the obvious brands that have proved to be a solid investment time and time again, such as Rolex, or Omega, and also those you may not be so familiar with.
Rolex – Sea Dweller
Firstly, we are interested by the Rolex Sea Dweller. This watch was and still is a huge statement by Rolex, which makes it a great choice for investment as it is big moves such as this that will get collectors attention in the future. Also, with this watch not being as originally successful as expected, sales were relatively low.
Meaning, that this is quite a rare watch from Rolex, this, alongside consistent increases in the recommended retail price mean that original purchasers can already be making a profit on this watch. Retailing at just over £8,000 currently for the 2017 model, we would hope for the resale to have increased in future years to come. One to keep your eye on. Rolex’ are almost always solid watches to invest in, with the popularity so high, and prices constantly increasing with demand.
Audemars Piguet – Royal Oak Extra-thin
Next up we have a timepiece at the higher end of the spectrum, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Extra-thin, retailing at around £50,000 this is one of the more expensive watches to invest in, but a worthwhile investment for sure. This being such a limited edition piece, and with its wafer thin 3.05mm self winding movement it is expected to rise in value in 10 or so years time.
If you have the capital to invest in an Audemars, we would suggest that it is a safe bet, and is also a stunning watch with fantastic design to wear on your wrist.
Oris – Limited Edition Carl Brashear Chronograph
The Oris Limited Edition Carl Brashear Chronograph watch. Celebrating the life of not only the first ever African American, but also the first ever amputee, in the U.S Navy. The bronze cased chronograph watch is the second model that Oris have created in the memory of Carl Brashear and being a limited edition watch with the unique bronze casing, could make this an ideal candidate for collectors down the line.
As this is a limited edition model, and stock has rapidly diminished, the resale value will start rising and rising as there are less watches on the market. Find out more about this watch here.
Rado – HyperChrome Captain Cook Limited Edition
From Rado, the HyperChrome Captain Cook Limited Edition. The sixties icon has been updated and is a nod to the Royal Navy explorer. A much smaller watch than many at 37mm case width, but still retaining the classic look you expect from Rado. The classic design will allow the value to rise as the limited edition models are sold, with higher demand, and lower supply, the price will be forced upwards as time passes.
A great watch from Rado which would definitely be worth checking out for a future investment, with an RRP of around £1,400.
Tudor – Heritage Black Bay
One of the most important things to remember when looking at watches to invest in, is what people will want to buy in the future. This means, classic designs that are recognisable to the brand, that aren’t too out there, and won’t put people of buying.
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay does this fantastically, a classic design from the Rolex sister company that we can already see will only increase in popularity. Models retail around £3,000 making it a reasonable investment for the potential to increase your value in the coming years. It is hard to say how much these pieces will be worth as of yet, being such a new entrant to the market, but we definitely see this as one of the best watches to invest in.
