Kickstarter has proven itself as a great platform for watch companies to find success. Unique watches and great new ideas have found funding to release watches which would otherwise have never seen the light of day. Pebble watches are certainly the biggest wrist watch success story from Kickstarter so far – a platform so diverse that it has funded both a games console and a potato salad!
Headlines watches are the latest company hoping to fund a range of Kickstarter watches. They have already received a great response online with a lot of praise and a good number of pledges! Today we’ll take a look at this range of new Kickstarter watches and see if they manage to live up to hype.
Headlines New Kickstarter Watches
American entrepreneur Ibrahim Alami founded Headlines watches with the aim of producing top quality affordable watches. The athlete and sales consultant took to Kickstarter after developing an appreciation for the watches he wore when meeting with clients. He prepared for his campaign by partnering with designers to put together a diverse range of inspiring and fashionable watch designs.
The Headlines Kickstarter campaign displays numerous collections with a planned release date of December 2018. The two main collections on display in their Kickstarter watches campaign are the Mirage Series and the Chrono Series. Both feature a strong sapphire crystal glass on the face of the watch and differing levels of water resistance.
The Mirage Series features a range of watches with very clear designs in a wide range of colours. These watches are certainly fashionable with a stainless steel case on fantastic leather straps. They certainly look good and they don’t appear to be a case of style over substance thanks to the quality Miyota movement.
The Chrono Series is unsurprisingly a series of chronographs – which look absolutely fantastic. If you are a fan of chronographs then you certainly want to consider picking up one of these watches. The first three watches in the series are very similar in colour and design and are perfect for business wear. The final 5 watches in the collection stand out with their mesh and nylon straps. They have very bold designs and will always capture the attention as an addition to any outfit.
Should You Back Headlines Kickstarter Watches
The Kickstarter watches produced by Headlines certainly look good, but can they deliver on their promises? It’s very difficult to make an accurate assessment about whether they will be successful in producing quality watches because Ibrahim has very little history in the watchmaking industry. He certainly has a lot of enthusiasm and passion to produce something of great value but it’s impossible to know whether he will deliver.
If Headlines manage to bring out watches which look as good as the pictures and work as well as the specifications imply then they will certainly be great watches. And the watches come with huge discounts in the campaign – the planned retail price is expected to be around £130-£170 but you can get hold of one for less than £80 if you back the Kickstarter campaign. But if you are concerned that they may not be able to deliver then you can back the campaign for about £12 and get a 15% discount upon release.
It will certainly be interesting to keep an eye on this campaign and see if it reaches it’s goal. If things go well then they may just become one of the next big Kickstarter success stories but if not then they may become another one of Kickstarter’s famous failures!
