The MET Gala 2018 celebrated its 70th anniversary with us this year!

MET Gala 2018-Summary.

Hello my beautiful readers, today I will talking to you all about the MET Gala 2018 (Metropolitan Museum in New York). One of the most extraordinary and controversial fashion shows yet! Where anyone who is anyone within the fashion, film, music and art industry attends. The world most amazing fashion designers put together some of the most stunning themed outfits ever, and in 2018 boy did they deliver! Anna Winton and Donetella Versace put together 2018’s event.

For those of you who don’t know what the MET gala is, don’t panic I will quickly explain. The MET gala is a huge Fashion Fundraising event, that raises a lot of money for MET’s Costume institute. It began back in 1948, where the high society of New York were encouraged and inspired to become benifactors for the museum. Each year the theme of this event is based on the museums new exhibition. This year the theme was ‘Heavenly Bodies, Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’.

Now these theme may of taken you back a bit, as it is extremely controversial. However, the theme is representing and promoting the new exhibition in the MET. To paraphrase De Zeen ‘The Exhibition praises the links between fashion and Catholics’, and if any of you have seen Reign (if you shouldn’t you really should) then you can back me up with the Catholic De Medici house and Mary Stuart Queen of Scotland have a absolutely epic fashion sense! (These dresses are based of the actual dresses worn by these royals.) So this year some of the most iconic faces, wore some of the most iconic inspired dresses of all time.

MET Gala 2018- Who Hosted?

Obviously such an amazing event would be hoested by equally amazing people. This year the MET gala ‘Heavenly Bodies, Fashion and Catholic Imagination’ was hosted by three brilliant stars!

Rihanna

Of course the Queen of R&B would be one of the hosts at the MET gala. Rihanna rocked Vogue this year as she turned up in jaw-dropping ensemble, inspired by a Catholic Pope. How is it that Rihanna somehow manages to make a life of celibacy and hats look good? She wore a pearl and jewel-encrusted tiny little dress to show of that stunning curvy figure, a large (surprisingly comfy looking) matching robe and of course the hat, the whole look completely magnified the Queen of R&B’s presence and she look utterly outstanding!

Amal Clooney

Amal Clooney may not of been a name you have heard of before. If it isn’t, then totally check her out. She is absolutely amazing, this beautiful independent woman completely rocks fashion and the Law. She is a human-rights barista, so she fights for what is right, and honey we all love you!

She looked as fierce as her career at the Met Gala, wearing a bustier-style long train with patterns that mimicked the stain-glass windows inside a Catholic church. The beautiful combination of blood-red and white look stunning in this shiny material. The beautiful gown was accompanied with blue cigarette trousers, showing her love of alternative style.

Donetella Versace.

Of course no fashion event would be complete without the one and only Donetella Versace. This Fashion Icon is an absolute Goddess, and of course she looked like one this year at the MET Gala 2018. Of course the Queen of fashion wore some amazing knee high-boots which coordinated perfectly with her bustier train, in the colour of midnight blue, she combined the colours of gold and black to create a gorgeous signature look with that Versace edge. Look at that huge statement belt ladies, doesn’t it just work perfectly! The whole combination of this look is as beautiful as the designer herself.

These three stunning and successful ladies co-hosted the Met Gala, ‘Heavenly Bodies and imagination in the Catholic Church.’. 

Met Gala 2018- Who attended?

Every year at the MET Gala the best and the brightest are invited, and of these amazing individuals arrive in style and in theme. This year there were so many well known faces, who had interpreted the Catholic Church into some beautiful outfits.

Several of these stunning faces are:

• Katy Perry  the pop star wore a beautiful gold ensemble of a mini-dress and knee high boots, paired with a stunning large pair of white and gold angel wings.
• Kim Kardashian wore a tight fitted royal gold dress made of sequins, and a subtle cross added to her waistline.
• Zendaya looked fierce in her knight gown which wowed all of the feminists and fairy tale infused ladies out there! The stunning silver and low cut metal chain top really showed of this beautiful ladies fashion. She could definitely be my knight in shining armour.
• Ariana Grande somehow pulled of the gorgeous and the adorable at the same time with this proper princess gown.
• Bella Hadid wowed everyone with her sinners leather gown, and dark makeup. This totally fierce look took our breath away. (I’m still not sure if I have gotten it back.)
• Sarah Jessica Parker completely magnified the theme with this royal gown and head piece, the stunning look would of fitted right in, in the show Reign. (maybe not the Vatican though.) She had a nativity scene inside her head piece, that is beautifully extravagant even for the fashionista  Sarah Jessica Parker.
•  Emma Stone looked beautiful in her military inspired gown, the royal blue and gold colours matched her pale skin tone beautifully.
• Sza of course looked like a flirty fairy tale princess in her pink layered ball gown, complete with ruffles and a corset sweetheart neckline.
• Jennifer Lopez did not fail to impress with her catholic inspired dress, with the chest piece of a flawless cross. She totally rocked the padded shoulders, this dress could of been worn by Catherine De Medici herself.
• Gigi Hadid also looked flawless in her stain-glass window inspired gown, her split leg and almost fantasy themed gown suited his beautiful ladies figure flawlessly.

There were so many amazing designers that put together the outfits that have wowed us! All of the iconic names in fashion we love and the up and comings showed themselves at the MET Gala, from dresses, to pearls to earrings, and of course shoes.

MET Gala 2018- First Class Watches Designers.

Unfortunately, as much as you might want to (and I really want to) only a lucky few get to attend the MET gala. However, even though we cant go to the MET gala we can definitely be inspired by it. And at First Class watches, some of the amazing designers we represent were there (in the form of dresses.) So Ladies, just because you can’t go to the MET Gala does not mean that you can’t wear it.

 Jean Paul Gaultier.

The Iconic Madonna completely rocked the MET Gala in her Jean Paul Gaultier Gown. And the designer stayed close to its signature by making this beautiful ‘Heavenly Bodies, Fashion and Imagination in the Catholic Church’ but still punk rock dress.

Of course she also attended with the amazing Jean Paul Gaultier. She wore a long black gown with a stunning high neck piece which would of been quite authentic and totally could of fit in, in the Catholic church. The stunning gold crown ties this entire look together.

This stunning Black and Gold watch could of been worn on the arm of Madonna at the MET Gala. The beautiful mesh bracelet adds a touch of texture to this look. And the combination of Gold and black completely go together. The fact that this watch is a Bracelet makes it completely unique much as the stars at the Gala were. The small and quirky clock hands make the dial face fit in well with the overall design.

This watch fits perfectly with Jean Paul Gautier’s black and gold dress worn by Madonna. Firstly lets talk about the beautiful tattoo themed image in the middle. The rose and the abstract would work perfectly with the ‘Heavenly Bodies, Fashion and Imagination in the Catholic Church’. As much like other stars dresses it could of been inspired by the stain glass window in the Catholic churches. The two beautiful different shades of golds work well together. The darker Rose Gold face and the Light Gold casing add the texture to this design. The simple black leather strap means ties this punk rock accessory together.

Tommy Hilfiger.

The amazing Tommy Hilfiger was worn by many famous faces at the MET Gala 2018 and they all looked gorgeous! Here are some stunning Tommy Hilfiger accessories you can own that will make you feel like you were at the MET Gala.

Hailey Baldwin.

Hailey Baldwin looked gorgeous in an off the shoulder egg-shell blue floor length gown this year, her beautiful pink hair and stunning tan almost seemed like an accessory. The stunning flowers in her hair gave her a very angelic look (appropriately religious for the occasion).

These stunning watches by Tommy Hilfiger will make you feel like you are wearing that gorgeous gown.

This stunning little number would pair beautifully with Hailey Baldwins outfit. Ruby Rose.

Ruby Rose wore a stunning red dress, which was as beautiful as she is, too the MET Gala 2018. This stunning lady rocked red at the Gala, showing of that stunning figure in a uniquely cut dress. She wore a short back train in a lighter red, which when held looked like angel wings. This dress was simple and elegant, but had that Ruby Rose touch of edge. The dress came complete with a beautiful velvet belt with an embroidered cross which interpreted this years theme. The stunning look was completed by a high-necked halter cut.

This beautiful dark Red strapped watch by Tommy Hilfiger mimics this stunning dress well. The wine leather strap is both beautiful and a statement, perfect for day-to-night wear. The thin hands on the watch make the whole design simple and elegant. There is no better colour to combine silver and gold with than red, the Catholic church definitely knew that.

Winnie Harlow.

Winnie Harlow rocked the angelic look at the MET Gala 2018, wearing a white gown by Tommy Hilfiger. She of course looked absolutely beautiful! The pure white and the simple cut really was angelic. Lets start of with the corset top placed over the under-dress, adding a textured feel to this otherwise simple garment. The beautiful plain white ball gown skirt had a Catholic Vintage feel to it! What tied this entire look together was the magnificent head piece in the same shade of white styled with leaves and a similar shape to the Pope’s hat.

This beautiful white watch by Tommy Hilfiger is completely inspired by Winnie Harlow’s Gala look. The pure white Face and Strap would look beautiful on any ladies arm. The strap has a similar texture to the top of the white gown. The use of Rose Gold within the clock face on the hands and markers adds a touch of sophistication to this look, and the roman numerals make this watch extremely elegant.

Kris Jenner.

Kris Jenner looks fabulous on the cream carpet in her Tommy Hilfiger dress, the use of many different materials made the dress look like something which could of been worn to a royal event in the Vatican. The royal gold and red embroidery which was placed on the cuffs and high neck of this dress added a splash of sophisticated colour, the long sleeves and velvet breast design make this look classy and fun. The feathered skirt made Kris Jenner look sexy and she totally brought this years theme into the 21st century.

There was one designer that everyone was talking about at the MET Gala 2018, and that was Coach! Coach is becoming more well-known as the time goes on, and this year they dressed some of the most well known faces on TV in the theme of ‘Heavenly Bodies, Fashion and imagination in the Catholic Church’.

Letitia Wright.

Letitia Wright, an up and coming star was wearing coach at the MET Gala 2018. she wore a beautiful multi-fabric dress in several different shades, including white, gold, black and blue. Four colours often used in the decorations within the Catholic Church. The stunning white material on her was inspired by the robe worn by the pope on special occasions, such as Christmas. The beautiful fading of the dress into several different colours was as extraordinary as the actor herself. The black netting heart decorated sleeves gave this outfit a touch of playfulness. She walked the carpet with John Boyega who was also wearing Coach.

This beautiful two toned watch by coach could of been worn on the wrist of the beautiful Letitia Wright. The combination of combining the silver and the gold is much the same as the combination on her beautiful gown. The silver clock face with the gold dials brings this combination of metallic colours to the centre of the watch. This watch is also scratch safe, which means you can wear it with sequins (ladies you know what I am talking about).

Another Letitia Wright MET Gala 2018 inspired watch is this beautiful creation by Coach. The  quirkiness of this design matches the one of Letitia Wright’s dress. The yellow-gold-tone bracelet is separated from the stainless steel link, giving each colour a place of statement on this watch. The tiny black Coach symbol and label add a third colour to the mix. Combining all of the colours of the beautiful dress into this stunning accessory.

Selena Gomez.

Selena Gomez looked jaw-dropping in her controversial MET Gala 2018 dress. She is wearing a skirt inspired by the undergarment skirt worn by female Catholics in the times of Tudor. This beautiful underskirt has been transformed by Coach into a signature look, the see-through material adds a touch of seductive to this otherwise sweet look. The top of this garment is as interesting as the bottom. With a beautiful peplim waist and a low cut top, this gorgeous ensemble worn by Selena Gomez is very elegantly eye catching.

This beautiful watch by Coach has the same personality of Selena Gomez’s dress. The simple white leather strap and silver case is much like her dress. However, the multi-coloured hour markers are subtle and playful, just like the ruffles on the gown. The beautiful bold white clock face makes this accessory have a fresh feel too it. Personally, I don’t think this watch even needs a description, its beauty speaks for itself… But, I’m going to give it one anyway because wow! Where to even start? The clock face on this watch has one of the most beautiful textures I have ever seen. The white face of the watch is established in C’s which makes it look like it is a silk sheet after its just been washed. The stunning texture of this clock face would even make Selena Gomez take a step back. The diamond encrusted case just magnifies its beauty, and the sexy silver tone adds an overall touch of sophistication to its look. This watch would pair perfectly with Selena Gomez’s MET Gala dress. The MET Gala is a amazing event, it raises money for one of the most successful and accurate museums in the world and we get to see some of the most beautiful gowns inspired by some of the most amazing figures, time periods and religions in human history. The MET Gala is a long standing event which will continue to wow us way into the future, and who knows what next years theme will be…
