Watches these days can fetch astronomical prices, whether that’s at auction or retail, the most expensive watches are just getting even more expensive!
Some of the most expensive watches that we stock, such as the EBEL Women’s Wave 58-diamond 18k Gold Watch or the U-Boat U-42 Unicum would be considered expensive in most people’s eyes, retailing at over £6,000 and £4,500 respectively, but watches can reach so much higher, with the highest on our list being worth $55M! With such astronomical prices being reached, and in a lot of cases, the actual design aspect being thrown out the window, has it gone too far? Are these ridiculously expensive watches actually needed? As seen in a couple of the watches shown, the main aim was to stick as many diamonds to a watch as possible, so the price tag went up and up, but should this be the case. Our favorite on the list is actually number 5, by Patek Philippe, the supercomplication, which has 24 different horological features, such as a perpetual calendar, minute repeater with Westminster Chimes, sunrise and sunset times, and a celestial chart based on the night sky above Graves’ (who the watch was created for) home in New York.
5 Most Expensive Watches
Our list is formed from both wrist watches and pocket watches, and puts together over $170,000,000 worth of watches! Take a read and let us know which one you’d be interested in owning… after winning the lottery.
We will also be compiling a list of the most expensive watches sold at auction, and the best watches to invest in, so keep an eye out for that in the near future, and let us know if there are any other lists you would like to see from us, and we may just make them!
