A very popular model that Hamilton released a little while ago was the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (H69429931) this is a modern twist on the original which was the American military field forebear watch from the 1940’s (pictured below). The remakes were originally only available in Japan however they have slowly made their way across the globe in a westerly sweep and are now available in the States and Canada.
The H69429931 has kept the military inspiration alive in its new design with green khaki and brown tan leather elements to the strap and a very vintage colour style to the dial and accents too. It is currently being sold at £375.00 on our website which if you ask me is an absolutely great price for such a big piece of Hamilton watchmaking history, as we mentioned earlier watch enthusiasts are obviously very fond of this watch with some of our customers pre-ordering and waiting up to 12 weeks for the watch to arrive. Since then we have sold out every model the same day they have come back into restock.
The watch featured a stainless steel sandblasted style case that is more grey in colour than silver, the sandblasted finish gives it a slightly grainy feel to it too which really adds a more vintage aesthetic to the watch. The NATO style strap is one of the best bits of the watch for me, its been really carefully thought about in its design and choice of materials to make sure that it stays as close to the original as possible whilst also giving it a 21st century makeover.
The watches glass is a premium scratch resistant sapphire crystal which is the best watch glass currently available to customers across any of our brands, this allows you to wear the watch when out and about and it will be able to take any knocks or bumps that you might accidentally (or maybe on purpose) put it through. The lug width is 20mm which is the same as the original, this also offers owners to be able to interchange the strap if they wanted too (Not my cup of tea but I know there’s some crazy combinations out there). The case width is 38mm which keeps it small and lightweight on your wrist unlike some military styles that have quite a bit of weight behind them.
Oh I almost forgot to mention that unlike the original the water resistance of this model is 5 BAR or 50 metres
