The Source of Life Limited Edition Oris
With Baselworld over, we are taking a look at all of the biggest and most exciting releases over the weekends show. Firstly, we are taking a closer look at the brand new Oris Source of Life Limited Edition watch. Previously from the Swiss watchmakers we have seen popular limited edition watches such as the Carl Brashear, the Clipperton or the Movember foundation piece. And now, created to celebrate water itself, the new Oris ‘Source of Life’ Limited Edition, an element that we often take for granted and do not fully appreciate to the level that we should. The representation is a divers watch from the Aquis collection. With a cold blue sunburst dial, and a dark grey bezel, this watch is perfectly off set to pay homage to the prices inspiration; the River Rhine which is near to the village of Hölstein, that has been the home of Oris since 1904.
Being located so close to this beautiful river has inspired the brand to take action, which is a consistent theme throughout Oris’s business plan, with previous watches being produced to help raise awareness, and take action on some of the world issues, including the Hammerhead, and Staghorn conservation watches. Intended to remind us of the role water plays in creating, connecting and sustaining life, Oris have used this project to prompt us to think philosophically about how we care for the world’s water sources as
chemicals and plastics in the earths water is becoming an increasingly more worrying problem. Limited to only 2,343 pieces in reference to the elevation of the Lai da Tuma, the official source of the Rhine, and features a case back with the map of the river engraved on to it to display the model number in the run. This watch can be chosen in either a stainless steel bracelet version, or the dark grey rubber strap, more accustom to divers and Oris watches.
