1.00mm Thick Citizen Eco-Drive
With Baselworld beginning today, we have seen the release of the worlds thinnest light powered movement coming from Citizen. Measuring at just 1.00mm thick the Cal. 8826 has once again shook the watch world. First released 44 years ago, the first exclusively light-powered prototype wristwatch was a huge innovation. Now, on its 100th anniversary year, they have managed to produce a watch with this Eco-friendly, Eco-drive movement at only 1.00mm thick. Finding its power from natural light, this innovative technology completely eliminates any need for battery replacements.
The watch functions at any point on earth and is always entirely independent of electricity grids or batteries. With 85 components inside, a 1.00mm movement is a truly astonishing feat from Citizen, and for anyone wearing this on their wrist it almost acts as a second skin, or built in wrist watch from a sci-fi movie! The case of this watch is made from Super Titanium, another innovative creation from Citizen, developed to assure complete wearing comfort, whilst retaining the rigidity and durability. At the thickness citizen have managed to achieve with this watch they are genuinely making huge waves in the watch world, they’re not alone, however. Bulgari and their latest announcement, yet another world record breaking thin watch. Opening Baselworld with a bang, they announced a new incredibly thin, highly technical Octo Finissimo Automatic Tourbillon – with a thickness measuring just 3.95 mm. The worlds thinnest Automatic watch!
