Casio have sent a G-Shock Gravitymaster to space in their latest feat to showcase the strength and durability of their watches. The international watch brand are on a mission to space to prove that their watches are up for the challenge.
G-shock Gravitymaster In Space
Casio sent a GPW-2000 Gravitymaster into the stratosphere with the help of a meteorological flight balloon. The launch site was in Yorkshire, England and it was a great day for the event with only a few clouds in the sky and perfect visibility. The watch then rose to an incredible 44.1km above earth reaching near zero gravity conditions before the balloon burst and the watch came gracefully back down to earth. At 44.1km the recorded temperature was at -58C and the watch was in perfect working order.
The watch fell at a speed of 65km an hour to the ground where it was collected from the field it landed in, it was ticking and fully functional with barely a scratch on it at all. The videos below showcase the event:
