The best day of the year to propose?
So when exactly is the best day to propose? Is there even a specific day that is better than another to ask the question? Like the holy grail of proposal dates? We assigned our top romantics to try and find out for you!
Our team came across a company called ChilliSauce who organise events such as stags do’s, hen do’s, corporate days out and activity weekends. They did an interesting survey with 7,000 people across the country to find out exactly what was the best day to propose amongst some other questions.
It is pretty common knowledge that the wedding season is throughout the whole of summer, however the Chillisauce survey found that winter is the time when proposals hit their summit. Its easy to see why this is such a popular season I mean who doesn’t like Christmas? (There is a few scrooges out there) the spirit of Christmas combined with the celebrations of new year adds up to the perfect equation for getting down on one knee. When he/she thinks it’s the best time?
Obviously this may be the topic of a few ‘heated discussions’ as many couples seem to have lets say ‘varied’ opinions on when is the best time to propose but the graph below has some very interesting results on the best time your partner might think is the best time to propose. Its almost like a subtle hint to the right time to propose (just in case you’re thinking of popping the question).
What makes a good proposal?
Much like the last topic this can be mostly down to opinion however it still seems to follow a trend that definitely leans towards the original and straight to the point “Will you marry me?”. Some of the office suggestions were; A romantic evening meal with flowers, strolling down a beach, surprise intervention with friends and even a scavenger hunt. There use to be a TV show called Mobbed that use to help men and women propose to their significant other I managed to find a video of one below for you:
Should SHE pop the question?
Its another big question that again crops up in engagement discussions, Can she ask? Or is it the mans job? Now we’re living in the 21st century and gender equality is getting better and better it is becoming much more popular for the woman to ask the man. Maybe its a combination of this and that the man is taking too long so the woman takes matters into her own hands? We are not sure but we can see an obvious growth of proposals happening this way.
The best way to refuse a proposal?
This is a hard one as it depends on the situation. If you are both alone and its all romantic its easier to say no and it not be so much of a dramatic scene however a lot of proposals happen with friends and family around and this can cause some pretty ‘cringe’ moments for everyone involved.
