Casio G-Shock announces special edition MR-G with connected capabilities at Baselworld 2017
Special Edition MR-G Timepieces Created with Kasumi -Tsu-i-ki Design and Bluetooth Capabilities
On March 22, 2017 in Messe Basel, Switzerland Casio G-SHOCK announced a brand new MR-G as it did the year previous however this model is a special edition and it would be fair to say its pretty impressive. The model is MRGG2000HT-1A and as a timepiece it does an amazing job of demonstrating the highest level in Japanese craftsmanship and innovation. It is the first-ever Bluetooth® connected MR-G and has been handcrafted using a traditional Japanese technique called ‘hammer tone’. This technique and the colours used on the watches face, bezel and buttons was inspired by a Japanese cloud dragon.
The new MRGG2000HT-1A timepiece has numerous features which include three-way time sync capabilities which have been made possible via Bluetooth Connectivity combined with G-SHOCK’s GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor technology, together these can accurately measure time and location from anywhere on earth. Users / owners can download a unique app which allows them to set world time and other watch functions directly from their smartphone with ease. This special edition model was on display at Baselworld at the Casio booth, located in Hall 1.1 B67, B71.
This brand new addition to the MR-G collection is the latest collaboration with third generation master metal craftsman Bihou Asano. This master of crafting individually hammered each bezel and band using the Tsu-i-ki technique with a Kasumi finish. This is a traditional craft method that creates a very unique relief patterns through hammering. The small dashes of colour in the bezel and on the hands are a reflection of the colours featured on a traditional cloud dragon which are mostly Japan blue.
The MRGG2000HT-1A titanium case and band is treated with a special deep-hardening process that renders the titanium it five times harder than regular titanium, the diamond-like carbon coating of the band and a sapphire glass crystal offer outstanding scratch resistance. The watch also has tough solar technology which ensures a professional level of operation even when using power hungry functions.
Each model also comes equipped with standard G-SHOCK technology of shock resistance and 200M water resistance, as well as world time (39 cities + UTC), an LED super illuminator light, daily alarm, a full auto calendar, 24-hour second stopwatch and 24-hour countdown timer, and automatic date update capabilities – all in a 49.8mm case.
The new MRGG2000HT-1A will retail for $7,400 (approximately £5889.66) beginning in September 2017.
