There are a lot of big watch manufacturers who have become mainstays at Baselworld. One of these manufacturers is TAG Heuer, who made their first appearance at Baselworld in 1934. Over the years TAG Heuer have grabbed the headlines on numerous occasions with their fantastic watches.
Two years ago TAG Heuer caught the attention of watch enthusiasts worldwide with the TAG Heuer Connected Android watch. Many saw this as the Swiss competition for the Apple Watch release. At the Baselworld 2017 TAG Heuer exhibition they are capturing the headlines once again – but this time they are set to do it with a much more classic watch.
Baselworld 2017 TAG Heuer Exhibition
At the Baselworld 2017 TAG Heuer exhibition, there are a lot of exciting announcements being made. TAG Heuer have announced their 2017 watch collection at the prestigious event and there are a lot of great devices to see.
Firstly, there are new models of the Carrera Heuer-01 which have been unveiled at Baselworld. The 43mm case variant comes in intense black, deep navy blue and cognac brown. The Carrera Heuer-01 Rose Gold is the one for lovers of luxury as it is plated with 18K rose gold and it looks incredible.
Another watch for those who are willing to splash out for something luxurious on their wrist is the Carrera Heuer-02 Tourbillon Diamonds, which features 68 diamonds in the bezel. And if that isn’t enough then the “All Diamonds” version might be the one you need. As the name suggests, in this version the diamonds aren’t just limited to the bezel but they appear all over the lugs and bracelet.
TAG Heuer Turn Back Time With The Autavia
The biggest headline attraction of the Baselworld 2017 TAG Heuer exhibition is the reborn version of the TAG Heuer Autavia. The original version of this classic chronograph was released in 1962 and was made famous by racing icons like Mario Andretti. The 1962 version is popular with collectors and would cost you tens of thousands of pounds if you wanted one.
The development of the reborn version was actually announced at Baselworld 2016 under the name of the “Autavia Cup” project. The final design of the new Autavia was put to a public vote with over 55,000 votes being cast. The original prototype was unveiled to collectors late last year and is finally being officially unveiled to the public here at Baselworld 2017.
The new TAG Heuer Autavia has been brought up to date with a number of alterations from the original 1962 version. One of the most contentious changes is the size of the case – the original came with a 39mm case while the 2017 Autavia features a 42mm case. This is partly down to another change – which is from a manual winding movement to a thicker automatic movement. There is also an addition of a date window, which will probably not impress the purists! Finally, the 2017 Autavia comes with water resistance to 100 meters – which makes it more practical than the original.
TAG Heuer always know how to grab the headlines and they have done so once again at Baselworld 2017 with their awesome new collection!
