Baselworld 2017 is finally here and there is no doubt that watch lovers worldwide are excited to find out what’s on show this year. Baselworld 2017 doesn’t just present regulars like Rolex and Tag Heuer, or smaller independent Swiss watchmakers – it also presents some of the giants of the electronics industry.
The Baselworld 2017 Samsung exhibition is an example of how the innovation at Baselworld isn’t just coming from the traditional watchmakers. The Samsung Gear 3 Pocket watch is undoubtedly one of the most innovative pieces at Baselworld 2017.
Baselworld 2017 Samsung Exhibition
One of the biggest electronics manufacturers on the planet today are Samsung. They are one of the biggest players in the smartphone sector as well as producing some of the most popular laptops and televisions. They are one of the most innovative brands on the planet and the Baselworld 2017 Samsung exhibition is another example of their innovation in action.
Samsung have a number of exciting concepts on show at Baselworld 2017 designed by watch designer Yvan Arpa. There is no doubt that visitors will spend a lot of time trying them out when they visit the Samsung exhibition. One of these concepts brings new and fancier finishes to the existing Samsung Gear 3 and is a pretty amazing little tweak to the Samsung Gear 3 design. Another takes the smartwatch components out of the case and replaces them with Swiss mechanical movements. These are both amazing concepts but on there own they would not be headline grabbers.
But the third device at the Baselworld 2017 Samsung exhibition is something which would certainly grab headlines wherever it was on display!
The Samsung Gear 3 Pocket Watch
The Samsung Gear 3 pocket watch sounds like one of the most amazing ideas ever – and the device, also designed by watch designer Yvan Arpa, actually manages to surpass these high expectations!
The pocket watch on display at the Baselworld 2017 Samsung exhibition doesn’t just take a pocket watch and place a Gear 3 inside it – it does so much more. The device includes back of the pocket watch case to include a traditional mechanical movement and threw a compass inside the lid for good measure.
The combination of cutting edge smart technology inside a traditional pocket watch is certainly an interesting juxtaposition. It’s impossible to be anything other than amazed by this concept and I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want one. Unfortunately this is not quite a finished product just yet and there are no plans for a consumer version of this pocket watch to be completed or released. Even so, this concept is one of the most amazing concepts in the history of Baselworld and will be one of the most memorable pieces at Baselworld 2017!
