There are many great watches at Baselworld 2016 – some of them are watches which have a feature list which makes you say “wow!” But these aren’t always the watches people actually want to buy. Sure they might be technically impressive, but would you really want to wear one on your wrist? Quite a lot of the time the answer is a massive no!
In today’s post we’re not just going to focus on the technically impressive watches. Instead we are going to focus on the most desirable watches of Baselworld 2016.
Seiko Presage
Seiko are one of the world’s biggest watch manufacturers with a storied history who produce a wide range of watches from the very affordable to the… well, much less affordable! The Seiko Presage series does not really feature in either category, serving as a kind of mid-point between the affordable quartz watches and the much less affordable Grand Seiko’s. This collection is quite a large one, with over 60 watches featuring very traditional designs which are influenced by the brands history. The series features some of the most desirable watches and will arrive in the UK this autumn.
Bulova CURV
If Bulova are known for anything it is their ability to produce some of the most desirable watches of all time. The CURV is another watch which features accuracy and beauty in ample amounts alongside a healthy portion of innovation. The Bulova CURV features the world’s first curved chronograph movement – and it is absolutely incredible. While mechanical watches are often noted for their beauty, this is proof that a quartz watch can be just as amazing to look at. All of the pieces in the movement need to be built curved, which makes this one of the most impressive feats of watchmaking for a long time.
Casio Edifice EQB-600D-1A2
Casio’s Edifice collection was one of the first to bring beauty to smartwatch design. Although this collection is no longer the top smartwatch collection produced by Casio, it is still one of the most desirable watches for people who travel for business. One push of a button allows users to connect the watch up to a smartphone and the CASIO WATCH+ app will then set the watch to the correct time for over 300 cities worldwide. The features are impressive enough, but the fact that they come in such a beautiful watch makes them even more amazing.
TAG Heuer Caliber Heuer Carrera 02T
TAG Heuer have moved into the smartwatch world with its incredible Connected watch which runs on Android software. But this is a watch which is just as impressive, even if it doesn’t run on the cutting edge of smartwatch technology. This watch is the only COSC automatic chronograph with tourbillion which is produced for under 15,000 CHF. The Black Phantom version is only available in 250 limited edition numbered pieces.
Gucci G-Timeless
Gucci were one of the big shocks of this years Baselworld bringing some of the most desirable watches of the event. The G-Timeless collection features an Automatic and a Chrono version. Both are absolutely beautiful watches which come in a PVD case and are water resistant to 50 meters. The Automatic version features a Swiss made ETA 2824 automatic movement while the Chrono features a Swiss made ETA Quartz movement.
