Junghans have been covered quite regularly on the First Class Watches blog – and with good reason too! Their watches are unique (especially the incredible Max Bill collection) and incredibly high quality. If you’re going to look for a quality watch which makes you stand out from the crowd then Junghans must be the first place you look!
But don’t just take our word for it, the Junghans Meister Chronoscope has won first prize in the entry level watch category at the prestigious GQ Time Awards 2015. The announcement of this well deserved award was made on Tuesday the 6th of October at a gala at the Beyerischer Hof in Munich.
Junghans GQ Time Award Victory
The announcement of the GQ Time Award is an international highlight in the watch industry. Many awards are voted for only by industry insiders, but this award is special because the award is voted for by readers of GQ magazine. Readers of GQ magazine are usually on the cutting edge of men’s fashion, which makes this award a very exciting one for any watch manufacturer to win.
This year, readers chose their favourite watches in a number of different catagories: Dress Watch, Entry Level Watch, Sports Watch and Wearable. Over 100 different watch brands are listed and all of them want to come out on top across the different categories. Expert jurors made their choice, too, making their choices from the same categories.
In this years Entry Level category the Junghans Meister Chronoscope was the watch of choice allowing the delighted Junghans team to walk away with the award.
The Watch of Choice for Readers and Jurors Alike
Being the watch of choice for GQ readers is something for any watch manufacturer in the world to shout about. But Junghans went one better, winning over the expert jurors for GQ magazine too. The expert jury included such luminaries from the world of design and technology as Michael Mauer, chief designer for Porsche AG and Kim-Eva Wempe, CEO of international luxury watch distributer Gerhard D. Wempe KG. If there has ever been a better assembled group of watch experts in world history as this one, I’ve certainly never heard of it!
Thomas Fiedler, Marketing Director at Junghans said, “Receiving the GQ Time Award is a great honour for us. The fact that our Meister Chronoscope model won over both GQ readers and the expert jury is especially pleasing and shows that German-made quality and design are appriciated.”
All of the winning models are presented in a special issue of the magazine called “GQ Uhren” which went on sale on the 9th of October.
About Junghans
If you’ve yet to become acquainted with the Junghans brand, then you’re in for a treat. The brand have stood for quality, reliability and passion for their 150 years in the watch business
Their Max Bill Collection was one of the most brave steps forward in the watch making world. Hiring an artist and designer like Max Bill was something that no other watch manufacturer had ever done before. But in the end it paid off with the range of Bauhaus classics still being incredibly popular today.
The brand have continually innovated over the years, but they have never forgot their roots. Junghans are most certainly “The German Watch” – but their designs are popular worldwide – and when you own one, you will understand why!
