Somehow Baselworld is still bringing us amazing news and we have some incredible announcements to bring to you today, direct from the Messe Basel!

Baselworld Day 7: The Stylish Roamer Searock Ladies Watch

roamer searock

Roamer have been creating high-quality watches since 1888, so they know a thing or two about designing stylish watches that people love to own. Roamer are renound for both quality and functionality at a brilliant price.

This year they have announced a ladies watch inspired by a legendary design from their mens range – the Roamer Searock. The original Roamer Searock design was made in the 1970’s and is certainly one of the most stylish watch designs of all time. The ladies version is made from stainless steel and comes in 6 varients including white, black, green or blue dials, and either a pure stainless, yellow or rose gold plated finish.

The price of the ladies watch has not yet been announced, but you can buy the Roamer Searock men’s version of this watch directly from us today .

The Most Innovative Water Resistant Watch off All Time

bruvik fjord

So, imagine that you get a new watch home and within a week you find that it has water inside it. How would you react?

If you’re an owner of a Bruvik Fjord… well I’m not sure how you’d react, but it’s not with the sort of horror that owners of other watch owners would experience!

The Bruvik Fjord has had a drop of pure water captured from a river on the edge of the Norwegian fjords by the designer Rene Bruvik inserted directly into the watch. The Bruvik website explains that they capture the water as it is just about to travel over the edge of a waterfall 612 meters above the fjords, Bruvik say that the water is special because it has seen the beautiful Norwegian fjords and nearly made it in!

The watch itself is water resistant (luckily!), so it wouldn’t be the end of the world if you were to end up getting some non-fjord related water on the watch!

Bruvik are also showing off the Svalbard timepiece, which pays homage to the northernmost settlement in the world. Rene Bruvik describes Svalbard as “Wild, remote and profoundly inhospitable, the islands will only reveal their unparalleled beauty to those brave enough to head north in search of it.” The watch itself is very beautiful and certainly does Svalbard proud.

The innovative design of this watch has led to the Lady Fjord (pictured) being nominated for the European Watch of the Year in 2014. It is available for $1,200 (around £806).

The Alpina & Frédérique Constant Horological Smartwatches

Mondaine were the first of the Swiss watchmakers to announce their horological smartwatch, but their announcement explained that this was in conjunction with other Swiss watchmakers Alpina and Frédérique Constant.

Both watches are powered by MotionX tracking, this gives the same cutting edge technology that will be used in the Mondaine smartwatch – activity monitoring and sleep monitoring will be available and displayed in analogue on the watches themselves as well as on an Android/iOS app.

Alpina’s model on display at Baselworld is a beautiful ladies watch with a silver stainless steel finish. The Alpina watch will be the first of the horological smartwatches to be released. The date for the Alpina watch isn’t set, but it should be around April 2015 with a price of around £350. The Frédérique Constant watch will follow in June starting at 950 euro (around £700).

There will be 10 horological smartwatches released from the partnership of Mondaine, Aplina and Frédérique Constant by the end of 2015.

One brand who are certainly not joining the smartwatch party in 2015 are Rolex, staying true to form Rolex’s new watches are certainly evolution, not revolution. Four new watches have been added to the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date range which was launched in 1956, Rolex boast this range as being “worn by more presidents, leaders and luminaries than any other watch in the world.”

The new watches come in Everose gold, 950 platinum, or 18K yellow or white gold and sport eye catching dials with four new dial colours: Ice blue, Sundust, Champagne and Silver. The watch features the new calibre 3255 which is certified as a Swiss chronometer by both Rolex and COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute). Rolex explain that it offers gains in precision, power reserve, resistance to shocks and magnetism, ease of use and reliability.

So, that is day 7 of Baselworld 2015, tomorrow we will be here with the announcements from the final day. Who knows what treats are in store for us, perhaps we’ll have the Marty McFly watch, perhaps we won’t. Either way Baselworld will certainly be going out with a bang and Dale will be here to bring you all of the news – bookmark the blog and head back tomorrow, you do not want to miss it!!
